Regulatory Requirements at a Glance

AB 341 Mandatory Commercial Recycling / AB 32 Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006

Businesses generating 4+ cubic yards of waste per week and multi-family complexes with 5+ units must recycle.

AB 1826 Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling

Phased-in requirements for businesses and multi-family complexes to recycle organic waste. Thresholds decreased over time; currently applies broadly to nearly all commercial generators.

SB 1383 Short-Lived Climate Pollutants Reduction Strategy

Requires a 75% reduction in organic waste disposal by 2025. Applies to all residents, businesses, and multi-family properties. Requires organics recycling participation and contamination monitoring.
